The sardine collection by Bordallo Pinheiro results from a collaboration between the earthenware factory of Caldas da Rainha, EGEAC (Lisbon’s Cultural and Animation municipal entity) and Lisbon’s City Council. The original Bordallo Pinheiro sardine, designed in the XIX century, due to its classic three-dimensional nature, became the ideal support for receiving the creative work from EGEAC. Designed by Ana Gil E António Caetano. St Anthony is the patron symbol of Lisbon. Depicted here holding baby Jesus, St Anthony blesses marriages and is also the patron saint of lost things. His feast day offers the city a traditional party without rival, with parades and marriages. Joy is adorned with sweet basil and the greatest figure is His Highness Dona Sardinha.
