The sardine collection by Bordallo Pinheiro results from a collaboration between the earthenware factory of Caldas da Rainha, EGEAC (Lisbon’s Cultural and Animation municipal entity) and Lisbon’s City Council. The original Bordallo Pinheiro sardine, designed in the XIX century, due to its classic three-dimensional nature, became the ideal support for receiving the creative work from EGEAC. Designed by Ana Fareleira. The Portuguese home encompasses figures, sounds and textures. The typical Portuguese home has a floor that creaks, a replica of Our Lady of Fatima, a slanted reproduction of the Crying Boy, and a doily, on top of which an old TV set sits. The classic Portuguese movie Lisbon’s Song is on, with Beatriz Costa’s bangs. This is clearly a Portuguese home!
